Golden Surfer

Yet another commission from the January Big Apple Con. This particular patron wanted the Silver Surfer to have more golden hue, so we put him in front of the sun. Fair enough.

Fantastic Four is still cruising along. I've got about one week until my deadline.

A Couple of Jokers

These are a couple of commissioned sketches from the Big Apple Con back in January (which seems like a long time ago).

In other news, I'm about 2 weeks away from my Mythos: Fantastic Four deadline. I'm painting page 18 right now (or at least should be instead of blogging). Wish me luck... and determination.

Spidey Prelims

These are the preliminary sketches I did for the Spidey cover that was just published. Incidentally, the chosen composition was my least favorite, but that's the way it goes sometimes. (One reason I love doing the "interiors" of a book is that there are almost no editorial revisions.) All of these were done completely in Photoshop in order to save time. As can be seen, I had a definite color scheme in mind, simply changing the pose and angle with each iteration.

Venom is the one with the mouth.

This is not Venom. This is the cover to Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #23, in stores next Wednesday, August 15. I was just informed today that someone else was credited for the cover in the issue, but rest assured, I painted it. In my next post, I'll show some of the process for creating this piece, including "rejected" sketches.
