Wacky Reference Wednesdays, No. 297

DAREDEVIL #3 COVER. 2015. Ink(ed by Joe Rivera)
on bristol board with digital color, 11 × 17″.

Hey, I remember this guy! Hope you do too. No photo reference for this cover, but a lot of pics I found online to get the subway station right. I also used a 3D model for the stairs. I wasn't sure how I was going to do the tile, but I had to get my Dad inking, so I just did them digitally.

I just sent this off to my art dealer, so if you're interested, please contact Mark Hay at Splash Page Comic Art.

THE VALIANT #1 Page 23. 2014. Photoshop, 2750 × 4175 px.

Here's a page from The Valiant where I shoot myself. These pics are usually taken with my iMac webcam, so sometimes the images are flipped. When I'm drawing digitally, I often flip the canvas in order to get a fresh view of my drawing, so it doesn't really matter which way things are facing... until I forget which hand they were using.

THE INFANT TERRIBLE. 2015.
Ink(ed by Joe Rivera) on bristol board with digital color, 11 × 17″.

No funny photos today, folks, but a bunch of panels used as inspiration for this Kirby Monsters variant cover. I always loved this rather ridiculous issue of Fantastic Four, so I was more than happy to read it again looking for things to reference. Hope you enjoy!

HOWARD THE DUCK #3 Cover. 2015.
Ink(ed by Joe Rivera) on bristol board with digital color, 11 × 17″.

Been awhile since I posted! I'm sure you all found other ways to entertain yourselves. The good news is, this variant cover just hit shelves (a week early, no less). My Dad, Joe Rivera, inked the issue over Joe Quinones — he's essentially the monthly inker now. Lastly, if you're interested in the original art, please let my dealer know at Splashpage Art. He'll have the art in hand in a month or so, including Howard pages that I inked over Quinones.

(side note: that's a really great book)
(side side note: Howard is reading The Power of Myth)
